Closes:29 November 2024

Based at our award-winning Cellar Door and Wine Bar in Havelock North, your role will be to ensure everyone that walks in the door feels welcome. Once relaxed in our beautiful space, you will host them with incredible wines and amazing stories about people and places that are special to us.

We are a small wine business with enormous experience. Led by our founders Steve Smith MW and Brian Sheth, our story began in Hawke’s Bay and has grown to have incredible people and vineyards in Hawke’s Bay, Marlborough, North Canterbury and Central Otago.

Our Heretaunga Wine Studio and Oenothèque (cellar door and wine bar) recently won the award for Innovative Wine Tourism Experience and Wine Tourism Services at the Great Wine Capitals Best of Wine Tourism Awards, demonstrating our commitment to both excellence and hospitality.

This important role is all about telling our stories, sharing our wines and celebrating the best of our region. If you want to work in wine tourism with people that absolutely love what they do, then we’d love to hear from you.

The successful applicant will:

  • Love making people feel at ease. We are in the wine business, but we are also in the business of hospitality.

  • Take enormous pride in delivering exceptional service for every guest that visits us.

  • Have a solid background in wine/beverage and food knowledge with a desire to never stop learning. Formal wine training and study is a huge plus, but a positive attitude to learning and an ability to communicate effectively is more important.

  • As we close at 9pm, you will need to be available afternoons and evenings Tuesday to Saturday.

  • Thrive in an environment that can go from quiet to full in a moment. You enjoy working with the odd moments of pressure, be quick on your feet and be able to work calmly while juggling a few tasks at a time.

  • Be able to speak with confidence, know how to read your guests and adjust your style when needed. We know people visit wineries for lots of different reasons. Our goal is to give them an experience that they will remember and tell others about.

  • Be relaxed and know how to have fun! Our work environment is all about relaxed, professional.

If this job sounds like you, get in touch. If the right person comes along straight away, we are going to offer them the job. So don’t wait too long to apply because you don’t want someone else taking your job!
