Vineyard Supervisor & Tractor Operator

We at Akarua are currently seeking two enthusiastic individuals to join our Akarua Vineyard team.

Both the vineyard Supervisor and Tractor operator are full-time Positions at the 50 ha Bannockburn estate growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Gris.

Supervisor/Vineyard Technician role:

With a primary focus on, but not limited to, supervision of casual and contract labour, vineyard data collection and irrigation maintenance.

• You will play a crucial role in gathering seasonal vineyard data, including shoot, berry, bunch counts and weights. Pest and disease monitoring and maturity sampling leading up to harvest

• You will help with keeping the irrigation system up and running. Which would include, weekly checks of rows for any leaks during the growing season, repairs and maintenance of any problems, topping up irrigation dams which is done via a water race

• Ideally you will have previous experience or knowledge of vineyard supervision, data collection and vine husbandry. As well as verbal and written communication skills

• You must hold a current New Zealand driver's license

• Have experience with vineyard machinery operations on flat and sloped terrain. (Tractors, ATV’s)

• Be a team player, enjoy working with others and share the common goal of making great wine

Tractor Operator:

The Vineyard Tractor Operator will be responsible for all machinery tasks and upkeep of machinery to produce premium quality grapes. Ideally you will have previous machinery operation experience at least two seasons or have right attitude and willingness to learn and progress through training.

• Have experience with vineyard machinery operations on flat and sloped terrain. (Tractors, ATV’s)

• Experience spraying, trimming, plucking, seeding, crimp-rolling and under-vine weed management

• Experience operating Fendt tractors

• Hold current Growsafe certificate

• You must hold a current New Zealand driver's license

• Be mechanically minded, enjoy problem solving and have attention to detail.

Remuneration
