Vintage 2025 is on the way and we are seeking motivated and hard-working individuals to join the Saint Clair crew! Working to support our awesome permanent Cellar Hands and Winemakers, you will be a team player with a good sense of humour and a passion for making wine.
All positions are for a fixed term, based at our winery in Riverlands Estate, just outside Blenheim. The roles will commence late-February 2025 and will run through until the end of harvest, typically late-April.
Successful applicants will be required to work a 12-hour shift, across 6 days per week (weekends included) during the peak harvest period (typically 3-4 weeks). All contracts will be for a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week with a maximum of 72 hours during the peak.
We have the following positions to fill (35 positions total):
EXPERIENCED CELLAR HANDS
Hourly rate: $28.00 - $31.00 depending on experience.
Key tasks/Responsibilities:
Carrying out all types of winery work including racking, barrel work, additions, blending, cleaning, receiving grapes, filtration etc.
Assisting with staff training
Skills & Experience:
A minimum of 2-3 vintages, or a previous vintage worked at Saint Clair.
Excellent attention to detail and a solid understanding of cellar operations.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
CELLAR HANDS
Hourly rate: $26.00 - $28.00 depending on experience.
Key tasks/Responsibilities:
Carrying out all types of winery work, including racking, barrel work, additions, blending, cleaning, receiving grapes, filtration etc.
Skills & Experience:
Previous winery experience would be an advantage, but not essential.
A good level of physical fitness.
The ability to communicate effectively in English.
EXPERIENCED LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
Hourly rate: $28.00 - $31.00 depending on experience.
Key tasks/Responsibilities:
Carrying out all harvest lab duties including sampling, grape maturation testing, fermentation monitoring, and other analysis as required.
Covering the Lab Supervisor’s shift one day per week. This will include supervising one other lab tech, managing the daily workload, data entry, and communicating with the winemaking team.
Skills & Experience:
A solid understanding of harvest laboratory operations built over 2 or more vintages.
Strong computer literacy skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
A wine science qualification would be desirable, but not essential.
