Beverage Operator/Cellar Hand

Brix & Co Limited is a large-scale beverage business located at The Hunting Lodge grounds in Waimauku, Auckland. We have an experienced and passionate team with capabilities spanning winemaking and other beverage production, laboratory services, packaging and warehousing.

We're looking for a Beverage Operator/Cellar Hand to join our team in a permanent role.  Hours are Monday to Friday 40 hours per week, with additional hours where required and during vintage/harvest period (6 days per week including weekend work, working a maximum 60 hours per week over this period).  

We are looking for someone who is passionate about wine, has a creative mind and is keen to be involved in some other exciting products.  

Reporting to the Production Winemaker, this is a fast-paced and exciting role within the cellar team.

We are a boutique winery, dabbling in some very exciting varietal blends. We have a vast array of award-winning accolades, most recently a 96 points for our Hawkes Bay Seasonal Chardonnay at the NZ International wine show.

Key responsibilities:

  • Wine and other beverage transfer/racking

  • Bulk Wine & other beverage intake

  • Wine and other beverage additions

  • Barrel filling/emptying/cleaning

  • Bottling sterilisation and clean in place

  • Wine and other beverage filtration

  • Prepare, mix and batch blends according to the production schedule, BOM and standard operating procedures

  • During vintage : crushing, pressing, red ferment cap management and red fermenter emptying

  • Assist in handpicking grapes on our homeblock during harvest

  • Assist in other areas of the business when required

You'll need to:

  • Be energetic, physically-fit and willing to continuously improve

  • Have the ability to work autonomously and competently in a busy team environment

  • Possess strong communication skills, attention to detail and a sense of humour

  • Have a passion for wine, quality and health and safety standards

  • Be willing to work on a rostered basis, which includes shift work and 6-day weeks over our vintage period

  • Minimum 2+ years experience in cellar operations and/or a wine harvest required
