GisVin is a contract winemaking facility situated in Gisborne with lots of cool, fast (and slow) pumps, big hoses, big tanks, Bin Tips, Presses, RDVs, a centrifuge, a crossflow filter and a fully equipped modern laboratory.

We are seeking enthusiastic and knowledgeable individuals to join our team to help turn ~5,000T of Gisborne grapes into quality wine for our worldly clients.

Ideally, you will have previous winery work experience, a love of wine, be self-motivated, be able to multi-task, have a ‘hands on’ approach, relish working long hours, and enjoy a good laugh whilst being part of a dynamic team in what is a wonderful part of the world.

  • Cellar Hands/Bin Tip Operators

We will require 10 keen Cellar Hands/Bin Tip Operators with a range of experience to work during the day and on the night shift. You’ll be fit, possess good communication and practical skills, enjoy working both independently, and as part of a team. Full training will be given so don’t let your lack of experience in a winery put you off. We'll pay $25 to $28 per hour depending on experience.

  • Press Operators/Vintage Cellar Supervisors

We will require 2 Press Operators & 7 Vintage Cellar Supervisors to help us get through the grape harvest. You will have 2 to 3 vintages under your belt and be confident using winery equipment. You’ll be passionate about following processes to produce the best quality-driven wines. You’ll also hold excellent communication skills, have a ‘hands on’ approach and be able to remain calm whilst multi-tasking. We'll pay $30 per hour for the right people.

  • Lab Technicians

We'll require 2 lab technicians. You will have a winemaking or laboratory sciences qualification and at least 1 vintage as an Assistant Winemaker or Laboratory Technician. You will have a keen eye for detail and be enthusiastic about wine science. You must be a team player and have reasonable physical fitness. We'll pay $28 to $30 per hour depending on experience.

All employees will go through a full induction and training program starting on Monday February 10th 2025. We will operate a 2-shift 24-hour system during the harvest period. We expect vintage employment to last around 10 weeks, and we'll guarantee a minimum of 30 hours a week, with a maximum of 80 hours a week during the height of season.

In return for your passion and pride, we offer a pair of safety boots, a full meal when working long shifts, a great rate of pay, and assistance with obtaining local accommodation for the duration of the crush.

The East Cape is known for its relaxed attitude, cultural diversity, seafood, fishing and pristine surf beaches.
