Burn Cottage Vineyard is currently seeking a Vineyard Assistant/Machinery Operator to join our tight-knit permanent team on our Cromwell vineyard.
The ideal applicant will have previous practical experience in viticulture, agriculture or horticulture, with a desire to produce wine grapes of the highest order, and be willing to learn and apply biodynamic viticulture methods. This position involves machinery operation; vine and fruit work with our team, and maintenance.
Good communication is required at all levels. A motivated individual with excellent time management skills, attention to detail and the ability to work "hands-on". Must have the ability to work alone and also with other members of the team, as required.
The applicant must be competent in tractor and vineyard machinery operation on a variety of terrain, and be able to carry out basic machinery maintenance, plus have good record-keeping skills. Calibration and spray application experience preferred, with a Growsafe certificate an advantage. Ideally, would have an understanding of the current Health and Safety Regulations. Must be willing to work flexible hours at times to complete the tasks as required.
A New Zealand resident or hold a current New Zealand work visa.
