| Details: | ALBERT MANN ALSACE with MAURICE BARTHELME Wednesday 17 February, 6.00 pm start, Cost $45.00, Limit 30 places Domaine Albert Mann, run by Maurice and Jacky Barthelmé and their wives Marie-Claire and Marie-Thérèse, is one of the rising stars of the Alsace vignoble. Based at Wettolsheim, just 2 km west of Colmar, the domaine has 21 hectares of vines over 8 communes. 6 ha are sited in grand cru sites, and all of the vines are managed organically. We welcome proprietor Maurice Barthelmé to Regional Wines in a presentation of Albert Mann wines with a focus on the concept of terroir, his wines demonstrating this. The wines to be tasted are the 2008 ‘Tradition’ Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer, along with the Grand Cru 2008 Riesling ‘Schlossberg’, the 2008 Pinot Gris from ‘Hengst’ and ‘Furstentum’, the 2008 Gewurztraminer ‘Furstentum’ and 2007 Gewurztraminer ‘Steingrubler’. To finish the tasting, we will sample the specialty late-harvest 2007 Vendange Tardive Pinot Gris ‘Altenbourg’ and 2005 Selection de Grains Nobles Gewurztraminer ‘Furstentum’. We expect this tasting to be popular and recommend you book early. |
