Based in Central Otago, Rockburn is a well-established boutique producer of premium wines with multiple accolades.
We are currently seeking applicants for the newly created position of Winery Assistant. The primary objective of the role is to support the Rockburn Winemaker with general winery labour, which will be full-time at vintage.
Other key responsibilities are to ensure the Rockburn winery site is maintained so that it reflects the quality position of the brand, and to assist the General Manager and Winemaker to implement any new initiatives on site, along with the administration of Rockburn’s Health and Safety systems, management of stock, dry goods and any required winery administration.
This is a varied role and is one that requires a high level of initiative and the ability to work autonomously at times. While candidates may primarily be interested in developing the skills required to become a winemaker, he or she could also have an interest in winery management, as this role will give the successful applicant exposure to more general elements of a winery business.
Applicants must have either qualifications in Oenology, Viticulture or related fields, and will need to have completed two full vintages in a winery or wineries. A high level of computer literacy is required.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a practical and proactive approach to work and must have a genuine enthusiasm about the wine industry and the Central Otago region. A good level of physical fitness is required in this role, as are strong organizational skills, and a “can do” attitude is a must.
