Vintage 2018 positions

Company: Sileni Estates Ltd
Location: Hawkes Bay
Type: Fixed Term
Category: Harvest / Vintage

Vintage Winemakers and Cellar Hands 2018.

Sileni Estates are now looking for Vintage Winemakers and Cellar Hands for the 2018 harvest.

Sileni Estates is a family-owned winery in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. Sileni Estates is named after the Sileni who featured in Greek mythology alongside Dionysus, the god of wine. They celebrated great wine, great food and great company, hence our aim at Sileni Estates is to produce excellent food-friendly, fruit-driven wines…and have a lot of fun doing it!

We produce Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Albarino, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah from across Hawke’s Bay’s diverse sub-regions and also Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough.

We are after self-motivated individuals who have a strong work ethic, a practical disposition, are good at multi-tasking and working under pressure. Need to have the ability to work well in a team and unsupervised. A positive attitude and a good sense of humour are essential, and of course a passion for making great wine!

A minimum of two full vintages experience is preferred (sorry, no first timers) and a relevant tertiary qualification would be advantageous but not essential. Excellent communication skills (English) and an understanding of Health and Safety practices required.

We also require a Night shift winemaker that will supervise this shift. This will be an extended contract. Previous Shift supervision is a must plus a strong understanding of the winemaking process.

Vintage Cellar Hands employment typically starts early/mid-March and runs for around 8-10 weeks depending on the season. At the peak of vintage will work around 12 hours a day, 7 days a week on a shift basis.

We provide a meal per day during grape harvesting.

Sileni Estates is SWNZ accredited (Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) Certified.
