New release from Elemental

Marlborough’s Elemental Distillers has released a luxurious new gin – Roots Rosso Vintage Pinot Noir Gin – produced in partnership with a Marlborough-based organic winery using a premium Pinot Noir wine.

The delicious new gin marries a unique expression of Roots Marlborough Dry Gin with an organic Marlborough Pinot Noir, harvested from biodynamically certified grapes.

“As a base, we’ve distilled a classic juniper forward London Dry gin supported by signature Roots botanicals of grapefruit, hops and native kawakawa alongside the aromatic angelica and orris root,” says Elemental co-founder and Master Distiller, Ben Leggett.

He describes Roots ‘Rosso’ as “a rich and unctuous off-dry spirit, tasting of ripe strawberries and warming spice, reminiscent of a sweet vermouth, with a bold Pinot Noir nose of dark fruit and rich iris flowers.”

Ben recommends serving Roots Rosso neat over ice with a slice of orange as a classic digestive, or with Indian or Mediterranean Tonic and a slice of strawberry.

Heering Cherry Liqueur now in NZ

Hancocks Wine, Spirit and Beer Merchants is excited to offer exclusive distribution of Heering Cherry Liqueur to the New Zealand market.

The award-winning liqueur is from De Kuyper Royal Distillers and complements Hancocks’ existing portfolio of De Kuyper spirits.

First made in Copenhagen in 1818, Heering was the world’s first cherry liqueur. Now, with over 200 years of history and tradition behind it, it is also the most awarded. It was the Trophy winner of the International Spirits Challenge (ISC) 2019 – the highest accolade for a brand from the ISC.

Heering is found in the best bars all over the world and is a key ingredient in legendary cocktail classics – try it in a Heering Cola, or Heering Old Fashioned.

Heering Cherry Liqueur is simple to use and easy to drink. Make a full-flavoured Heering serve as an aperitif before dinner, or end dinner parties on a high note with a well-chosen Heering serve.

New tasting room for Rifters

The team behind Arrowtown gin Rifters are excited to open their new tasting room in the historic gold-mining town.

The Rifters Tasting Room is centrally located at 4 Buckingham Street in Dudley’s Cottage, an Historic Places Trust building built in the 1880s by William Butler.

“It’s the ideal fit for us,” says Rifters co-founder Hamish Bourke. “With the doors now open Wednesday to Sunday from 11am-4pm, we’re excited to be able to bring more people on the Rifters journey.” The space is also available for private group tastings.

The new Rifters Tasting Room offers the award-winning Rifters Original Dry Gin and Rifters Quartz Gin, along with limited editions and the newly released Blue Gold Gin.

“This has been our top seller in the Tasting Room to date, with great feedback,” says Hamish. “We’re looking forward to rolling it out over the coming months.”
